I am Joanna Gusiew, the founder of Mindful Space, a mother of two wonderful children, a teacher and educator passionate about lifelong learning.
My mission is to assist mothers in nurturing, understanding, and connecting with their children to establish lasting relationships.
Before my children were born, I envisioned myself as a patient, loving, understanding, and connected mother. However, the reality I faced after their arrival was quite different. From the moment my first child was born, I found myself struggling. Fatigue and impatience consumed me as I grappled with the challenges of understanding my baby's cries and comforting him. Motherhood hit me like a shockwave, and the idealized image of the mother I aspired to be felt like a distant dream.
With the birth of my second child, doubts crept in, making me question my capabilities as a mother. I was often reactive, fueled by anger, and preoccupied with external judgments. I resorted to shaming and blaming my children until one pivotal moment that changed our reality forever.
I realized that there might be something in my interactions that was contributing to their behavior, prompting me to seek guidance and begin a journey of transformation..
While I still encounter challenges and continue to learn, I have gained the insight and ability to be there for my children, understand their needs, and support them through difficult situations without being reactive, angry, or resorting to shame and blame.
If you find yourself struggling to remain calm during challenging times. If you often react with regret making promises for a better future, I am here to guide you in transforming reactions into thoughtful responses, converting anger into empathy and understanding, and shifting frustration into fulfillment.
